   Meet our Music Director

Alexander Smith is making his debut with The Spotsylvanians.  Alexander began his musical career at a very young age.  Since then, progressing in the classical and gospel music realms, he has made music an inseparable part of his life. A music education, voice concentration major at Virginia Commonwealth University, he currently teaches music in Culpeper. He also teaches piano lessons and provides vocal coaching.

While at VCU Alexander performed in numerous voice recitals and master classes and appeared in several operas with the VCU Opera Theater Company. He also served as director of VCU's award winning Gospel Choir as well as tenor soloist at Richmond's Second Presbyterian Church.

His greatest passion lies in the many varied styles of gospel music, and he continues to conduct gospel music workshops in the Northern Virginia area and provide background vocals for recordings, while serving as Director of the magnificent First Sunday Choir at his church.

He has recently appeared on the Riverside Dinner Theater Stage performing in Smokey Joe's Cafe, Footloose and Dreamgirls.

The proud uncle of favorite nephews Zachery and Chase, he gives all praise to God for the gift of music.
